Engineering Manager - Cloud Platform

At Vipps MobilePay, our Platform & AI area builds the rock-solid foundation our products rely on. We design, maintain, and evolve the cloud platform that keeps our services secure, scalable, and lightning-fast.

Now we’re taking the next step: bringing AI into the heart of our platform. That means giving our product teams safe, governed, developer-friendly access to LLMs and shared AI capabilities — and we’d love your help to make it happen.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a key role in building and running our cloud platform, with a mix of infrastructure engineering, automation, and AI enablement. As an engineering manager, you'll also lead and grow the team responsible for delivering this platform, balancing hands-on technical direction with people leadership.

Here’s some of the things you’ll be working on:

• Lead the team: Manage, coach, and grow the engineers on the platform team - owning hiring, performance, and career development alongside the day-to-day technical direction.
• Shape our cloud platform: Build and operate core infrastructure in Azure — especially AKS and Azure PaaS services.
• Enable AI across the company: Extend the platform with secure, well-governed AI capabilities that make it easy (and responsible!) for teams to use LLMs and shared AI services.
• Write infrastructure as code: Use Terraform and/or Bicep to create modular, reusable infra that’s fully version-controlled.
• Automate where possible: Use GitOps tooling like Argo CD, Helm, and Kustomize to deliver platform changes quickly and safely.
• Keep things secure: Own identity and access patterns, secrets management, and network controls using Azure-native and Kubernetes primitives.
• Make it reliable: Build for high availability, safe rollouts, and cost-efficient scaling.
• Collaborate closely: Work with architecture, product, and security teams to translate needs into platform capabilities that just work.
• Keep improving: Help shape our internal standards and platform roadmaps as we grow.

We're looking for an engineering leader who enjoys building strong teams and dependable cloud platforms.

You don’t need to tick every box, but we think you'll thrive if you have:

• Experience leading, coaching, and developing engineers in a collaborative environment
• A solid technical foundation in cloud engineering, ideally Azure, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code
• The ability to set clear direction and turn platform needs into practical priorities
• Experience creating effective ways of working across engineering teams
• A product mindset for internal platforms, with developers as the customers
• Confidence balancing reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed
• Experience with cloud-native delivery practices, including CI/CD, GitOps, and automation
• Great communication skills and a down-to-earth, inclusive leadership style
• A bias for simplification, continuous improvement, and measurable impact
