About the Role

As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the development of advanced subsea control systems from concept through qualification and product delivery. You will work across multiple engineering disciplines to develop robust, reliable solutions that meet customer, industry and regulatory requirements.

This is a senior technical position within the New Product Development department. While the role includes technical leadership within projects and mentoring of colleagues, it does not include direct people management responsibilities.

About the Team

You will join a small, highly collaborative engineering department comprising approximately 15 engineers and project professionals. Most of the team is based in Stavanger, with additional engineering resources located in Oslo. The environment is hands-on, entrepreneurial and focused on solving complex engineering challenges through close collaboration.

  • Develop control system architectures, philosophies and functional specifications for subsea equipment and systems.
  • Design and integrate subsea control modules, instrumentation, communication systems and electrical interfaces.
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical and software engineers to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Lead technical work packages and provide technical guidance throughout product development and project execution.
  • Support concept studies, technology development, qualification programmes and FEED activities.
  • Prepare technical specifications and engineering documentation for procurement and supplier engagement.
  • Participate in supplier evaluations, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), verification and validation activities.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting when required.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, engineering standards and knowledge sharing within the controls discipline.

Essentia l

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Control Systems, Automation, Cybernetics, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in control systems, automation or instrumentation engineering.
  • Experience developing and integrating complex control systems.
  • Experience working within offshore or other highly regulated engineering environments.
  • Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of control systems architecture and systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, industrial communication systems and electrical interfaces.
  • Experience preparing technical specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with subsea control systems, subsea electronics or subsea production equipment.
  • Experience within offshore oil and gas or comparable safety-critical industries.
  • Experience with New Product Development or technology development.
  • Knowledge of PLC-based control systems.
  • Experience with supplier management, qualification programmes, FAT, SIT and commissioning.
  • Norwegian language skills.
