Are you passionate about animal welfare and making a positive difference in your community?
Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking a Pound Keeper to manage the day-to-day operation of our pound facility and support the delivery of effective animal control services.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the care and management of impounded dogs, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with the Dog Control Act 1996, Impounding Act 1955 and Council bylaws. You will work closely with dog owners, veterinarians, animal welfare organisations, and the wider Animal Control team to support animal welfare, promote responsible dog ownership, and contribute to the safety and wellbeing of our community.
We're looking for someone who is confident working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, has strong communication and organisational skills, and enjoys a practical role that combines animal care, administration, and customer service.
