Mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Category Manager – Corporate Services, you will lead the development and delivery of category strategies that drive commercial value, manage risk, and support ANZ's business objectives. Working closely with key stakeholders and suppliers, you'll oversee strategic sourcing initiatives, identify opportunities for innovation and cost optimisation, and shape the long-term direction of the corporate services category portfolio.

This is a senior role that will influence how Procurement is driven at ANZ, combining strategic planning with flawless delivery across categories such as Property, Marketing, Media and Data.

The Category Manager role has broad range of responsibilities. Some of your day-to-day activities may include the below:

  • Leading and delivering category strategies that drive commercial value and business outcomes.
  • Managing end-to-end sourcing, including supplier selection, contract negotiations, and commercial delivery.
  • Using data, market insights, and supplier analysis to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proactively manage commercial, operational, and supply chain risks while fostering innovation.
  • Monitor category performance to deliver cost savings, quality improvements, and service excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Provide procurement expertise and governance to support informed business decisions.
  • Ensure alignment with Group procurement strategies and regulatory requirements, including BS11 and CPS230.
  • Collaborate with Group Procurement Category Managers to develop and implement both centralised global or regionalised category strategies and market activity.Collaborate across Procurement and business teams to deliver strategic priorities and business outcomes.
  • Align with New Zealand Outsourcing and Governance and the Legal team along with business stakeholders to ensure that vendor contracts remain complaint with regulatory and compliance obligations

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Proven experience in a Category Manager, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Manager, or related procurement role, ideally with responsibility for Corporate Services categories (such as Property and/or Marketing).
  • Ability to develop and execute category strategies that deliver long-term business value and commercial outcomes.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience securing favourable supplier agreements and commercial terms.
  • Sound financial analysis capability, including evaluating cost models and supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Experience conducting market and supplier analysis, leveraging insights to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Strong data analysis skills, using insights and performance metrics to inform category and procurement decisions.
  • Demonstrated success in category spend management, driving cost optimisation, efficiency, and value delivery.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant procurement certification (e.g. CIPS) highly regarded.
