Defence House Building Assistant

Citycare Property is looking for a Defence House Building Assistant to join our team at Defence House, the national headquarters of the New Zealand Defence Force in Wellington.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, takes ownership of their work, and understands the importance of maintaining professional environments. You'll play a key role in ensuring office spaces, meeting rooms, shared facilities, and amenities are presented to a high standard and ready to support NZDF personnel every day.

Due to the security requirements associated with this role, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret NZ Government Security Clearance

What You’ll Be Doing | Ngā Kawenga Takohanga
• Maintaining offices, amenities, meeting rooms and shared spaces to a high standard
• Carrying out cleaning and presentation tasks across the facility
• Assisting with meeting room set-ups, furniture moves and event support
• Supporting the day-to-day operation and readiness of the building
• Performing routine checks of facilities, equipment and supplies
• Responding to service requests and assisting with building-related tasks
• Working safely while following all NZDF site requirements and protocols
• Helping create a welcoming, professional environment for staff and visitors

What We’re Looking For | Ā Mātou e Rapu Ana:
• Experience in commercial cleaning, facilities support, hospitality, property services or a similar role
• Ability to obtain and maintain a NZDF Top Secret Security Clearance.
• A strong eye for detail and commitment to high presentation standards
• A customer-focused attitude with excellent communication skills
• Reliable, proactive and able to work independently
• A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing
• The legal right to work in New Zealand
• Ability to pass pre-employment checks, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal history check
• Ability to obtain and maintain NZDF security requirements
