Our Heretaunga Village in Upper Hutt is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our care team on a fixed-term, part-time basis, working 20 hours per week.
This is a hands-on care role where you'll make a genuine difference to residents each day, supporting their health, wellbeing and independence while helping them feel safe, respected and at home.
We're particularly looking for someone who has experience supporting people living with dementia and is confident with medication administration.
What you'll be doing
- Providing personal care and support tailored to each resident's individual needs
- Supporting residents living with dementia with patience, empathy and understanding
- Assisting residents to maintain their independence, dignity and wellbeing
- Administering medication safely and in line with relevant procedures and care plans
- Observing and reporting changes in residents' health and wellbeing
- Working closely with our nursing and wider care team to provide consistent, high-quality care
- Building positive and trusting relationships with residents and their whānau
What you'll bring
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant, ideally within aged care
- A Dementia Certificate or relevant dementia care qualification is highly desirable
- Experience and competency in medication administration
- A relevant NZQA Health and Wellbeing qualification or equivalent would be an advantage
- A caring, patient and respectful approach to supporting older people
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Reliability and the flexibility to work rostered shifts
- The right to work in New Zealand
