Street Environmental Worker

We are looking for a Full-time and a part-time motivated Street Environmental Worker to join our Waikato- based team.

About the role

• You will be part of a team maintaining our clients’ green spaces and/or street environments.
• Tasks will be varied and will include:
• Emptying litter bins from roads, the CBD, town centres, minor shopping areas & bus shelters
• Collection of bagged refuse and recycling.
• Collection and disposal of loose litter from footpaths, kerb and channel and other areas as required.
• Removal of leaf fall and other detritus from cesspits
• Work with road sweeper staff to manually sweep traffic islands and other hard-to-reach areas.
• Cleaning of street furniture, bus shelters and other council assets as directed.
• Graffiti removal
• Cleaning of council assets as directed.
• Manual Sweeping
• Report back on litter bins requiring maintenance.

This is a fixed-term role from September 2026 - March 2027, and the hours are:

October: 6 hrs Monday, Wednesday & Friday. 3 hrs Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday

November – March: 8-8.5 hrs Monday, Wednesday & Friday; 3 hrs Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday

About you

The successful person will have:

Experience in a similar role, or willingness to learn,

Full Class 1 driver’s licence and ability to drive a manual,

Class 2 licence is highly beneficial,

Be physically fit and mobile, able to do physical work,

Have a commitment to health and safety.
