We're looking for a seasoned Property Finance professional to join our team as a Senior Relationship Manager in Hamilton.

Reporting to the Area Manager, you'll manage and grow a portfolio of sophisticated property customers including investors, developers and related property businesses, delivering tailored financing solutions that support their long-term growth and success. You'll build trusted adviser relationships with customers and industry stakeholders, identify new business opportunities and play a key role in strengthening Westpac's presence in the Property Finance market.

This is a highly visible role requiring deep commercial and property finance expertise, strong risk judgement and the ability to structure and deliver complex lending solutions across a broad range of property sectors including commercial investment property, residential development, industrial, retail, office and mixed-use developments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and growing a portfolio of Property Finance customers through proactive relationship management and strategic engagement.
  • Developing a deep understanding of customers' businesses, property strategies, capital structures and growth objectives.
  • Structuring and delivering property finance solutions across investment lending, development finance, acquisition funding, construction facilities and working capital requirements.
  • Identifying and originating profitable new-to-bank opportunities and growing Westpac's market presence.
  • Building strong referral networks with brokers, accountants, solicitors, valuers, developers, investors and other industry stakeholders.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser throughout the lifecycle of property investment and development projects.
  • Preparing high-quality lending submissions and maintaining strong credit risk, portfolio monitoring and asset quality outcomes.
  • Assessing complex lending opportunities, including feasibility studies, project cashflows, valuations, development budgets and lease structures.
  • Representing Westpac across the property sector and contributing market intelligence and insights that support business growth.
  • Working collaboratively with Analysts, Relationship Associates, Credit, Risk and Product teams to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you'll be an experienced banking professional with a strong track record in Property Finance, Corporate Banking or Commercial Banking and an established reputation within the New Zealand market.

  • Extensive experience managing complex Property Finance or Commercial Banking portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of commercial property markets, development cycles and property finance structures.
  • Experience structuring and executing property finance transactions, including development, construction and investment lending facilities.
  • Demonstrated credit capability and experience assessing development projects, feasibility studies, project cashflows and valuation reports.
  • Proven ability to originate new business and build long-term relationships with sophisticated customers and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk, lending policy, compliance requirements and portfolio management.
  • Exceptional relationship management, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Highly developed commercial judgement and business acumen, with the ability to balance customer outcomes and risk management.
  • Experience with leveraged and syndicated transactions would be highly regarded.
