Introduction:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a leading academic and diagnostic center that supports patient care across Pakistan through its comprehensive laboratory services. The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) Clinical Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and delivers high-quality diagnostic services through its main campus laboratory, a wide network of specimen collection units, and Stat laboratories.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine comprises five major sections: Chemical Pathology, Hematology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. The Histopathology section plays a critical role in disease diagnosis and patient management through accurate reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • Carry out patient registration in Laboratory Information System; check and process lab tests prescribed
    by doctors' by entering details pertaining to patient, the lab test to be undertaken and other required data
    into the computer to avoid any contractual problems
  • Handle cash and credit transactions as and when required according to Laboratory ReCheck and confirm test requirements with patience and give necessary verbal / written information / instructions so that the specimens are collected as per the lab test requirements.
  • Cross check patient' s name and L-number given on the receipt with the final report to avoid handing over of an incorrect report to the patient.
  • Handle telephone enquiries regarding lab tests and take patient's appointments for special test after consultation with the section supervisor concerned /section in-charge according to Laboratory policy as and when required.
  • Any other duty or responsibility assigned by the Senior.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • Graduate degree qualification.
  • 1 -2 years of experience of being a receptionist or preferably also have experience as a phlebotomist for 2 to 3 years.
  • Excellent Customers service skills.
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills in English and Urdu.
