Senior Assistant, Department of Anaesthesiology

Introduction

The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.

The Department of Anaesthesiology at Aga Khan University is committed to providing clinical excellence in perioperative care as well as the training of future anaesthesiologists. Our team of trained and well-experienced anesthesiologists aims to provide best possible patient care not only in the operation theatres but also beyond it. With current 35 clinical faculty our department is one of the biggest Anaesthesia department in country, our faculty is also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and our programs are recognized at national and international level.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • organize and schedule faculty meetings
  • coordinate and arrange transports for official visits of faculty & staff
  • assist in logistical and administrative tasks for the projects
  • type letters, memos, meeting minutes, transcribe medical summaries forms etc
  • manage all aspects of travel for national and international purposes according to University Policies
  • assist faculties is organizing in events (academic activities, courses, symposiums, workshops & webinars)
  • maintain all office equipment (computers, telephone, etc.) in working condition and be responsible for lodging and following up complaints with concerned departments
  • maintain filing system for all documents, correspondence, reports, and other materials
  • timely renewal of faculty documents like PMDC and credentialing
  • enrol faculty and Medical Officer in trainings like ACLS, BLS, PALS before expiry
  • prepare presentation/posters for faculty research presentations
  • maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments and meetings & arranging logistics. (Venue booking, meal request)
  • coordinate with other department to resolve day to day issue like IT, HR, Finance
  • coordinate for disposal of office equipment
  • maintain CME records of faculties
  • any other task as assigned by the faculty/supervisor.

Requirements

You should have:

  • a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree/ Master’s degree is preferable
  • a minimum 2 years of related work experience
  • Good interpersonal skill
  • Proficient in use of computer packages e.g. MS Office
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
