Summary - basic function of the role
We are looking for an experienced Sales Engineer to support the continued growth of our Hydratight services business in Qatar. This is a strategic, customer-facing role focused on identifying and converting opportunities across Qatar’s oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, energy, and industrial construction markets. The successful candidate will build relationships with EPC contractors, main contractors, end users, consultants, and other project stakeholders, positioning Hydratight as a trusted technical partner on major projects across the country.
Combining technical understanding with strong commercial capability, you will manage opportunities from early identification and prequalification through to proposal development, negotiation, and order closure.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, energy, and industrial construction projects in Qatar.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, main contractors, end users, consultants, and key project stakeholders.
- Identify customer and project requirements and promote Hydratight’s portfolio of specialist services, including controlled bolting, on-site machining, hot tapping, line stopping, flange weld testing, integrity leak testing, and process and pipeline services.
- Monitor Qatar’s project market, identify opportunities at an early stage, and develop a strong and sustainable sales pipeline.
- Conduct customer meetings, presentations, technical discussions, and project-site visits.
- Coordinate customer and project prequalification, including the preparation and submission of PQD documentation.
- Prepare accurate technical and commercial quotations, proposals, and tender submissions.
- Follow up on opportunities and negotiate commercial terms through to successful order closure.
- Work closely with Service, Operations, Engineering, and Marketing teams to develop and deliver effective customer solutions.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline updates, sales reports, and market intelligence.
- Deliver agreed sales, revenue, and margin objectives.
- Represent Hydratight professionally while maintaining the highest standards of safety, integrity, and customer service.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong technical sales and business-development capability within complex industrial or project-based environments.
- Commercially focused, with the ability to develop opportunities and manage the full sales cycle.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to understand technical customer requirements and translate them into practical service solutions.
- Confidence engaging with project, contracts, procurement, engineering, and execution teams.
- Strong proposal, tender, and quotation-development skills.
- Ability to build credible relationships with contractors, end users, and senior decision-makers.
- Proactive and results-driven, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong understanding of CRM management, pipeline reporting, and sales forecasting.
- Existing relationships within Qatar’s oil and gas or industrial market would be advantageous.
- Willingness to travel regularly to customer offices and project sites across Qatar.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, another engineering discipline, Business, Sales, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in technical sales, industrial sales, or business development.
- Experience within the oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, energy, or industrial construction sectors.
- Demonstrable experience working with EPC contractors, main contractors, and major end users.
- Experience selling specialist engineering, maintenance, mechanical, or industrial services is preferred.
- Previous involvement in customer or project prequalification processes would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of controlled bolting, on-site machining, joint integrity, intervention services, or process and pipeline services would be beneficial.
- Experience working within the Qatar market is strongly preferred.
