Process Engineer, Lithography
- Coherent Corp.
- Sweden
- SEK 500,000 – SEK 700,000
Coherent is a global leader in photonics, developing advanced laser, optical and materials technologies that enable semiconductor manufacturing, AI infrastructure, advanced communications and precision industrial applications worldwide.
In Sweden, our teams operate the country’s only full-scale indium phosphide wafer fabrication facility. Here, we design, manufacture and test some of the world’s fastest optical chips under one roof, supporting AI infrastructure, data centres and global communications networks.
The Role:
As a Process Engineer within our Lithography area, you will take ownership of processes supporting both production and development within our InP semiconductor wafer fab.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work closely with Production, Process Integration, R&D, Maintenance and other technical teams to ensure our lithography processes remain stable, capable and ready to support both current and future products.
You will combine day-to-day production support with process development, qualification, continuous improvement and the introduction of new equipment and technologies.
What you will be doing:
- Own lithography processes, ensuring stable, capable and reliable performance for both wafer production and development activities.
- Maintain a strong presence within the production area, proactively monitoring processes, identifying potential issues and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Develop process instructions and operating procedures and train technicians on new equipment, processes and working methods.
- Establish and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC), using process data to improve stability, capability and quality.
- Lead process and equipment qualification activities, including designing experiments, developing test plans, analysing results and supporting product qualification with Process Integration.
- Lead new equipment investments, including supplier evaluation, technical assessments, experiments and recommendations to support investment decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase process yield, quality, productivity and efficiency.
- Develop new processes and technical capabilities to support future products and manufacturing requirements.
- Produce clear technical documentation, including process and equipment instructions, test plans, project plans and evaluation reports.
- Collaborate closely with Process Engineers, Technicians, Maintenance, Process Integration, R&D and colleagues across other Coherent sites, as well as external suppliers.
About You:
You are a proactive and hands-on engineer who enjoys working close to production, taking ownership of technical challenges and using data to drive improvements. You work in a systematic and organised way and are comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
You will ideally bring:
- A Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry or a comparable technical discipline.
- Professional experience within a semiconductor wafer fabrication environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of semiconductor processing, ideally including lithography and InP optoelectronic components.
- Experience developing, controlling, qualifying and improving semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with experience using process and experimental data to drive decisions.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership and drive improvements within a production environment.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across Production, Engineering, R&D and external suppliers.
Ensure adherence to company’s values (ICARE) in all aspects of your position:
🤝 Integrity – Create an Environment of Trust
✨ Collaboration – Innovate Through the Sharing of Ideas
🎯 Accountability – Own the Process and the Outcome
🌍 Respect – Recognize the Value in Everyone
