Manufacturing Engineer (SMT Hybrid) – Senior Engineer

Key Responsibilities and Critical Success Measures

• Serve as the technical lead for SMT and Hybrid manufacturing processes across internal operations and Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners.
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfers, and manufacturing ramp activities to ensure quality, yield, cost, and delivery targets are achieved.
• Develop, qualify, and optimize SMT assembly processes including solder printing, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI, X-Ray, and related assembly operations.
• Drive process improvements focused on yield enhancement, defect reduction, cycle time improvement, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing, quality, reliability, and customer issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Establish and maintain process controls, PFMEA, Control Plans, work instructions, and manufacturing standards.
• Partner with CM engineering and operations teams to improve process capability, quality performance, capacity, and cost competitiveness.
• Support equipment qualification, line setup, capacity planning, automation projects, and capital equipment deployment.
• Monitor manufacturing KPIs and provide clear reporting of risks, improvement actions, and project status to management.
• Mentor engineers and technicians while promoting best practices across manufacturing sites and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, health, safety, and customer requirements.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting SMT, electronics, or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Strong expertise in SMT processes, equipment, materials, process control, and defect analysis.
• Proven experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CM) and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers.
• Experience leading NPI, product transfer, and manufacturing scale-up activities.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, PFMEA, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Familiarity with IPC standards, quality systems, and manufacturing validation requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and influence cross-functional teams with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
• Experience supporting global manufacturing operations and multiple subcontractor sites.
• Knowledge of automation, Industry 4.0, and digital manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with high-mix/low-volume and high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Semiconductor manufacturing experience, including wafer processing, die attach, wire bonding, advanced packaging, or semiconductor assembly operations, is highly desirable.
• Project Management certification or equivalent project leadership experience.
