Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and set performance objectives for a diverse team of maintenance professionals, including skilled trades, apprentices, and operational technicians.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability across the maintenance department.
- Ensure all direct reports, internal customers, and stakeholders clearly understand and strictly adhere to corporate policies, safety practices, and operational procedures.
Maintenance Operations & Asset Reliability
- Direct the installation, maintenance, repair, and dismantling of large-scale, complex industrial equipment and plant infrastructure.
- Oversee comprehensive preventive, predictive, and unscheduled maintenance programs for all mechanical and electrical systems, as well as mobile plant equipment.
- Lead rapid troubleshooting and advanced equipment failure analyses to diagnose complex mechanical or electrical faults and minimize production downtime.
- Evaluate existing plant infrastructure and recommend strategic capital improvements to enhance equipment availability, operational capability, and overall production yield.
- Prepare detailed technical reports documenting equipment modifications, maintenance procedures, and operational metrics.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a strictly related technical field.
- Core Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive maintenance experience within a continuous manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Leadership Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience in managerial or team leadership capacity, driving performance and strategic KPIs.
- Technical Expertise: Strong applied knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, industrial automation, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and/or SAP PM (Plant Maintenance).
- Methodologies: Demonstrated expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Standards & Compliance: Working knowledge of Integrated Management Systems, including ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (OH&S). Familiarity with ISO 50001 (Energy Management) and the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives.
- Audit Support: Experience facilitating and supporting internal/external audits, compliance programs, and corporate continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communication: Excellent leadership, team development, and cross-functional communication abilities. Good command of written and spoken English.
- Environment: High adaptability and resilience to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Background: Direct experience in refractory, mining, minerals processing, cement, ceramics, or similar heavy continuous-process industries.
- Specialized Equipment: Deep technical knowledge of rotary kilns, rotating equipment, heavy conveyors, crushers, hydraulic systems, and industrial utilities.
- Project Management: Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale maintenance shutdowns, plant turnarounds, and complex capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects.
