Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Team as an Integration Engineer! 🌟
Are you passionate about telecoms? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment? At Babble, we’re on a mission to be our customer’s most trusted advisor for cloud-based technologies. We’re looking for passionate and talented individuals to join our dynamic team. If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!
What will you be doing?
The purpose of this role is to build and maintain the connections between our systems and those of our partners, customers, and third-party services, ensuring reliable and secure data exchange across the integration layer. The Integration Engineer will design and implement APIs and integrations end to end, resolve issues in development and production, and contribute to a resilient, observable and maintainable integration platform. The Integration Engineer is accountable for delivering integrations from API design and implementation through to secure, reliable data exchange in production. The role sits at the intersection of software development and systems architecture, works closely with internal teams and external partners to define data contracts and integration requirements, upholds engineering standards through code reviews and clear documentation, and, as opportunities arise, cross-skills into other development projects.
Main Accountabilities
The role holder will be directly accountable for delivering the following technical and delivery objectives, with measurable outcomes aligned to agreed engineering standards, security requirements, and integration reliability, maintaining a hands-on approach when required:
Integration Design & Development
- Design, develop, and maintain integrations between internal and external systems using .NET (C#, .NET Core / .NET 6+).
- Build and consume RESTful APIs, alongside other interfaces such as SOAP, GraphQL, or messaging/event-based integrations where relevant; version, publish and maintain APIs to consistent standards. Security & Authentication
- Implement secure authentication and authorisation across integration points, applying the appropriate methods (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, API keys, mutual TLS) for each scenario. Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Reliability
- Troubleshoot integration failures, data mismatches, and performance issues across development and production environments, debugging across system boundaries to isolate root causes.
- Monitor integrations in production and contribute to logging, alerting, and observability practices to support prompt detection and resolution of issues
Documentation, Collaboration & Engineering Standards
- Write clear technical documentation for the APIs and integrations you build, ensuring they are usable by both internal teams and external consumers.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to define integration requirements and data contracts, setting expectations and communicating progress throughout delivery.
- Participate in code reviews and help uphold engineering standards across the team, contributing to CI/CD practices and Git-based workflows.
The Employer reserves the right to amend the employee's job title or description to meet its business needs subject to giving the employee reasonable notice.
Qualifications
- Solid commercial experience developing in .NET (C#, .NET Core / .NET 6+).
- Strong familiarity with API development, including designing, building, versioning, and consuming RESTful web APIs.
- Good understanding of security concepts as they apply to integrations and APIs, including secure handling of data in transit and at rest.
- Practical experience with authentication and authorisation methods, such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, API keys, and mutual TLS, and an understanding of when each is appropriate.
- Comfortable working with common data formats such as JSON and XML, and familiar with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug across system boundaries.
What Else Looks Good For This Role
- Experience with message brokers or event-driven architectures (e.g. Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, Kafka). • Familiarity with cloud platforms, with Azure preferred.
- Exposure to integration platforms or middleware (e.g. Azure Logic Apps, MuleSoft, BizTalk).
- Understanding of API gateways and rate limiting.
- Awareness of common security standards and threats, such as the OWASP API Security Top 10.
