Technical Specialist - Digital

Purpose of the role

The Technical Specialist - Digital is responsible for providing technical expertise and operational support within the digital printing environment. The role ensures optimal print quality, efficient production planning, effective stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement of digital production processes. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between production, prepress, suppliers, and technical service providers to ensure seamless workflow execution and delivery of high-quality products.

The Role:
In this exciting role, you will:

Digital Print Quality & Technical Support

• Conduct and approve colour sign-offs to ensure customer and quality standards are achieved.
• Provide technical support for HP digital presses and ABG finishing lines.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate solutions to minimize production downtime.
• Monitor print quality and recommend process improvements.

Production Coordination

• Coordinate SMED initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Manage and coordinate production plans and planning boards to support workflow optimization.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure schedules are met and resources are effectively utilized.

Systems & Data Management

• Maintain and manage the DFE archive system.
• Ensure digital files and production data are accurately stored, organized, and accessible.
• Support data integrity and document control within the digital production environment.

Stakeholder Liaison

• Liaise with DTP teams regarding artwork, file preparation, and production requirements.
• Work closely with Raw Material Stores to ensure material availability and smooth production flow.
• Coordinate with suppliers regarding equipment support, maintenance, and technical requirements.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support operational excellence.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

• Relevant qualification in Printing, Digital Printing Technology, or a related field.
• Digital print technology certification will be advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a digital printing or printing environment.
• Experience with HP digital printing equipment and colour management.
• Exposure to production planning and workflow coordination.
• Sound understanding of digital printing processes and DFE systems.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills.
• Good stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality.
• Proactive, results-driven, and customer-focused.
• Strong team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
