Under the authority of the Market Manager you will :
- Underwrite, build and maintain a profitable portfolio in accordance with the Treaty underwriting guidelines
- Manage the relationship with the clients under assigned responsibility
- Identify new business opportunities, whether with existing clients or with new prospects
- Identify and understand clients’ needs and propose appropriate SCOR reinsurance solutions and services
Main Activities
- Study clients’ reinsurance needs and identify new business targets
- Build and formalise reinsurance offers, with the support of SCOR actuarial teams, in accordance with the UW Guidelines
- Negotiate with clients the terms and conditions of the proposed solutions, in order to efficiently finalise deals with clients and implement the reinsurance treaties. This is to be done in compliance with SCOR's guidelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with client companies and their reinsurance brokers
- Visit clients regularly
- Report regularly on accounts, visits and marketing activity
- Promote SCOR to our customers by using communication and marketing products (seminars, forums, marketing materials etc).
- Work in close cooperation and coordination with the colleagues in the Treaty network
- Analyse the Treaty portfolio paying attention to profitability
- Regularly interact with our actuarial and claims team
- Participate in the elaboration of the business plan
- Assure the completeness of administrative data and supervise the administration of back-office tools (in liaison with the Technical Assistants) in relation to new or existing accounts
- Price treaties in accordance with your delegated authority
- Treaty wording design and control
Required experience & competencies
- A couple years of working experience in a re/insurance company/reinsurance broker, in a role that included underwriting experience as well as customer management.
- Commercial skills: strong interpersonal skills, client centricity. Confidence to develop and maintain a network of brokers and clients.
- Good negotiation skills, ability to listen and to observe, flexibility. Good team player.
- Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance market in South Africa, of insurance products and needs, of distribution channels, of financial and economic environment.
- Knowledge of legal environment of insurance and reinsurance contracts, insurance accounting aspects.
- Hard worker, with skills in business negotiation and delivery under time constraints; rigorous and accurate work outputs.
- An enquiring mindset with the ability to work independently as a motivated and pro-active self-starter
- Self-disciplined, principled and decisive decision making
- Organized and able to prioritize under pressure
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Willingness and ability for regular business travel
- Expertise in main Office software, availability to learn and master main Company tools
- Fluency in English on both a written and oral basis.
