Reporting to the Coordinator Environment - LEP, you will be providing day-to-day environmental

oversight and field assurance for the construction and implementation of the Kamisengo Inflow

Control Dam (KICD). The position will ensure that construction activities are undertaken in

accordance with approved environmental requirements, permits, Environmental Management Plans,

company standards and applicable legislation.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Conducting daily environmental inspections and field monitoring of KICD construction activities and associated work areas.

• Monitoring implementation of approved Environmental Management Plans, environmental controls, permit conditions and project commitments.

• Supervising contractor environmental performance and ensuring environmental requirements are effectively implemented on site.

• Monitoring and managing environmental risks associated with earthworks, excavation, dam construction, vegetation clearing, water management, waste, fuel and hazardous materials.

• Coordinating environmental monitoring, including water quality, dust, noise, waste, soil and other project-specific environmental parameters.

• Identifying environmental non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and effectively closed out.

• Supporting the investigation, reporting and management of environmental incidents, spills, complaints and other environmental events.

• Conducting environmental inspections and audits of contractors and verifying compliance with LMC and project environmental requirements.

• Providing environmental guidance to construction supervisors, engineers, contractors and other project personnel on environmental controls and requirements.

• Monitoring vegetation clearing, topsoil management, waste management and rehabilitation of disturbed areas.

• Maintaining accurate field records, inspection reports, monitoring results and environmental registers for KICD activities.

• Supporting regulatory inspections and ensuring environmental commitments and approval conditions applicable to KICD are implemented.

• Providing timely environmental updates to the Environmental Coordinator and Project Management Team, including significant risks, non-compliances and required actions.

• Supporting implementation of environmental improvement initiatives and continual improvement of environmental performance across the KICD project

  To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 certificate

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering management, or related field

• Minimum Four (4) years’ relevant experience, preferably in mining, power transmission linear infrastructure, construction or major capital project.

• Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and environmental auditing is advantageous.

• Good knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, permits, licenses,

• Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), ESIA commitments and approval conditions.

• Experience in environmental monitoring, inspections, incident investigation and implementation of corrective actions.

• Experience working with contractors and construction teams in active field environments.

• Membership of Engineering institution of Zambia

• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

• Demonstratable experience engaging with regulatory authorities, consultants, contractors, project teams and other stakeholders.

• proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

• Valid Zambian driver’s license.
