About the role
We are looking for two Project Officers to our ANZELA-QI team. Both roles will contribute to the coordination and delivery of the registry, working closely with hospitals, clinicians, research offices and other stakeholders.
One position will have a primary focus on Ethics and Governance, while the other will focus on Site Engagement and the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome and Experience Measures (PROMs/PREMs).
Ethics and Governance focus
• In this role, you will coordinate ethics, governance and compliance activities across participating hospitals in Australia and New Zealand. You will manage submissions, amendments and reporting requirements, maintain accurate documentation and support hospitals to understand and meet their governance obligations.
• You will also contribute to project coordination, stakeholder communication, quality improvement and the ongoing operation of the registry.
Site Engagement and PROMs/PREMs focus
• In this role, you will help hospitals join and remain engaged with the ANZELA-QI program and lead the implementation of PROMs and PREMs across participating sites.
• You will coordinate onboarding, communications, training and implementation activities, monitor progress and identify opportunities to improve participation and processes. You will also contribute to project delivery, data quality, reporting and broader registry activities.
Both roles will involve managing competing priorities, keeping projects and activities on track, preparing reports and resources, and working with a wide range of people across hospitals and RACS.
Both roles are Full Time and can be based out of one of our offices (Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide or Sydney) and are offered on a maximum term contract until 30 June 2027.

About the team
The ANZELA-QI team is part of the Surgical Audit team at RACS and operates a national Clinical Quality Registry across Australia and New Zealand. We work with hospitals, surgeons, clinicians, data managers and research and governance teams to collect and use emergency laparotomy data to support benchmarking and quality improvement. You will report to the Project Lead - Operations, ANZELA-QI and work closely with Project Leads, Clinical Data Analysts, the Surgical Audit team and Registry Committees. Externally, you will work directly with participating hospitals, clinicians, surgeons, hospital data managers and ethics and governance officers.
About you
You are organised, practical and comfortable managing several pieces of work at once. You can build positive working relationships with different stakeholders and are confident communicating clearly, both in writing and in person.
Depending on the focus of the role, you will ideally bring:
• A tertiary qualification in health sciences, public health, healthcare management, project management, nursing, allied health or a related discipline.
• Experience coordinating projects, activities or competing priorities, ideally in a healthcare, research, quality improvement, registry or audit environment.
• Experience with ethics, governance or compliance processes within healthcare or research settings.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively while also managing your own work.
• Experience with PROMs/PREMs, quality improvement, stakeholder engagement, training, databases or REDCap would be well regarded.
• You will also be comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint, and willing to learn new systems and processes.
