Reporting Manager Title: Department Manager Mechanical Engineering
Worley is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Mining, Minerals & Metals (MMM) team in Brisbane. The role will support studies, sustaining capital projects and major project developments across the mining and mineral processing sectors.
Join Worley's team delivering EPCM services for one of Australia's largest copper growth programs with a leading global mining company. What you'll do
- Deliver mechanical engineering services in accordance with Worley procedures, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
- Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, datasheets, calculations, and design documentation.
- Develop engineering deliverables for studies, FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Support equipment selection and procurement activities.
- Design and specify mining, minerals processing and material handling equipment.
- Support materials handling systems, mineral processing facilities, and associated infrastructure.
- Develop equipment layouts and mechanical design documentation.
- Review vendor documentation and provide technical evaluations.
- Support package engineering activities and equipment installation requirements.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues throughout project execution.
- Coordinate with process, piping, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Support project planning, estimating, scheduling, and progress reporting.
- Contribute to risk assessments and change management processes.
- Provide support during construction, commissioning, and operational readiness phases.
About You
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
- Eligible for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) pathway.
- RPEQ, RPEV or equivalent registration desirable.
- 5+ years' experience in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience within Mining, Minerals & Metals projects.
- Exposure to FEED, detailed design or EPCM project delivery.
- Experience in one or more of:
- Mineral processing plants
- Hydrometallurgical facilities
- Pyrometallurgical facilities
- Comminution and screening circuits
- Bulk Materials handling systems including mobile equipment
- Underground, surface and IPCC mining
- Shaft hoisting and ventilation systems
- Non-Process Mining infrastructure, workshops, fuel facilities etc.
- Water, wastewater and slurry infrastructure, pumping piping and pipelines
- Package engineering and major equipment procurement
- Mechanical equipment design and specification.
- Equipment datasheets and requisition preparation.
- Vendor package management.
- Materials handling equipment.
- Pumps, tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and process equipment.
- Familiarity with Australian and international engineering standards.
