What you will do:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment according to local electrical codes and standards.
  • Conduct inspections, diagnose electrical problems, and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Collaborate with team members and contractors to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Always adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Requirements

  • Valid 309A Journeyman Electrician license in Ontario, Canada.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as a Journeyman Electrician in industrial and commercial settings, including industrial troubleshooting and preventative maintenance, as well as new construction, renovations, service calls, or work on commercial equipment; agricultural experience is an asset.
  • Strong hands-on experience independently responding to and managing service calls, diagnosing electrical problems, identifying root causes including intermittent faults, determining appropriate repairs, and completing service work with a strong level of responsibility.
  • Substantial hands-on experience installing electrical systems, panels, switchgear, motors, controls, conduit, wiring, distribution systems, lighting, disconnects, transformers, control systems, and electrical equipment in industrial, commercial, or agricultural environments.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical plans, and identifying circuits and components from drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with motors and motor controls, PLC-related wiring, PLCs in industrial environments, industrial control panels, distribution systems, and installing industrial electrical equipment, machinery, automation systems, sensors, or variable frequency drives.
  • Hands-on experience installing commercial electrical systems in commercial buildings, retail facilities, offices, or industrial-commercial facilities; experience installing agricultural electrical systems and working with agricultural equipment, ventilation systems, pumps, motors, feed systems, or agricultural controls is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience testing circuits and components using multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, electrical testers, voltage testers, insulation resistance testers, or other diagnostic equipment, with strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing control issues and resolving problems with motors, panels, and controls.
  • Strong commitment to following electrical safety procedures and regulations, including lockout/tagout, arc flash awareness, PPE, job hazard assessments, safe electrical work practices, and knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and ESA-related requirements.
  • Experience performing electrical inspections.
  • Keep accurate service reports and maintenance records, document repairs and materials used, complete work orders, use digital service systems, and report deficiencies clearly.
  • Customer-facing service experience, including explaining electrical problems, providing repair recommendations, communicating professionally, working respectfully in customer facilities, handling customer concerns, and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and conduit tools for electrical work.
