Summary

We’re looking for an Adaptive Equipment Specialist to join our dedicated team at Central Louisiana Supports and Services Center (CLSSC)—a facility committed to providing active treatment and healthcare services to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and orthopedic disabilities in the least restrictive environment. The Adaptive Equipment Specialist will perform fabrication, modification, and technical design of adaptive or special equipment to meet the needs of handicapped students as requested by the Occupational Therapist Supervisor.

Job Duties:

• The Adaptive Equipment Specialist will perform fabrication, modification and technical design of adaptive or special equipment to meet the needs of handicapped students as requested by the Occupational Therapist Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate documentation records, including daily documentation and inventories pertaining to Adaptive Equipment Shop, DME, stock items and donated equipment per AE Shop SOP's.
• Assist OT Supervisor in property management and development of annual DME budget for OT department.
• Maintain and repair of both manual and power wheelchairs facility-wide to enhance resident educational/habilitative instruction and participation in functional activities of daily living both on and off-campus.
• Participate in wheelchair rounds daily to assess/inspect residents' chairs and gather information regarding any broken/missing parts or unsafe conditions.
• Generate an adaptive equipment work order for repairs, and complete all repairs in a timely manner (as quickly as possible) to ensure safety of residents across programming.
• Perform a wheelchair inspection on all new admissions (as applicable) and compare detailed summary regarding the wheelchair frame and seating components utilizing the checklist for new admissions.
• Generate work order for any necessary repairs/modifications and complete in a timely manner.
• Repair/replace/modify any wheelchair parts as assigned/under direction of the OT Supervisor.
• All work requires strenuous physical exertion for such activities as climbing, lifting objects (40) pounds or over, crouching or crawling in restricted areas. Work has some demand for more than ordinary strength or endurance. The employee must be able to perform these assigned duties without significant risk of substantial harm to his/her own safety/security and the safety/security of others.

Appointment Type:Probation, Permanent Career Progression: Vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Adaptive Equipment Specialist 1 or 2, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum annual salary for the Adaptive Equipment Specialist 2 is $90,210.00.
