What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Rail Projects Director to join the Programme Management Department within CAF's Rolling Stock Business, based in Beasain.

The mission of this role will be to ensure the successful execution of a portfolio of strategic railway projects, being responsible for fulfilling contractual commitments with customers, as well as achieving the company's financial, operational, and quality objectives.

The successful candidate will act as the overall leader of the projects within their scope, managing executive relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders, driving strategic decision-making, and ensuring effective risk and opportunity management.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for international railway projects with high technical and contractual complexity.
• Lead the achievement of project objectives in terms of schedule, cost, quality, safety, and profitability.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, procurement, industrialisation, quality, finance, and customer service.
• Manage executive relationships with customers, railway authorities, operators, and other strategic stakeholders.
• Oversee contract execution, including change management, claims, negotiations, and scope variations.
• Ensure effective risk and opportunity management throughout the entire project lifecycle.
• Lead project governance and reporting activities towards CAF Management.
• Promote continuous improvement and the implementation of project management best practices across the organisation.
• Ensure effective resource and capability planning to meet project commitments.
• Contribute to business development by identifying commercial opportunities arising from project execution.

Minimum Requirements

Academic Background

• University degree in Engineering.
• Postgraduate studies in Business Administration (MBA), Project Management, or similar disciplines will be highly valued.
• Project management certifications (PMP, IPMA, or equivalent) will be considered an advantage.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in international industrial environments.
• At least 5 years of proven experience managing complex projects or strategic programmes.
• Experience in the railway, mobility, transportation, complex industrial systems, or related sectors will be highly valued.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale contracts with significant financial value and technical complexity.
• Experience leading international and multicultural teams.

Required Languages

• Advanced level of English (C1 or above).
• Fluent Spanish.
• Advanced knowledge of German, French, and/or Basque will be highly valued.
