Context & Environment

The Training Evaluation Service Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our operations, the quality of well data acquisition, processing and interpretation, as well as the performance and cost optimization of our activities.

As a Senior Petrophysicist, you will be at the heart of geoscience studies and the discovery of new resources.

In this role, you will provide support to operational entities and project teams through your expertise, the execution of technical studies, and the promotion of innovative methodologies. You will contribute directly to discovery appraisal, resource quantification, and uncertainty reduction.

Activities

In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

• Providing petrophysical technical support to operations, affiliates, and exploration and appraisal teams.
• Performing petrophysical interpretations of well data and delivering rapid analyses to support ongoing drilling operations.
• Identifying, characterizing, and evaluating reservoirs and their fluid content in order to reduce uncertainties associated with exploration and development projects.
• Conducting and overseeing petrophysical studies, from data analysis through to the delivery and presentation of results.
• Synthesizing, validating, and integrating well data into geological models and multidisciplinary studies.
• Ensuring that studies under your responsibility are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
• Presenting and communicating study results through reports, technical notes, and presentations to various stakeholders.
• Contributing to the development and sharing of petrophysical knowledge through the preparation of guidelines, best practices, and training activities.
• Participating in research, innovation, and digital transformation projects, particularly in the fields of CCS/CCUS, artificial intelligence, and machine learning applied to geosciences.
• Mentoring, training, and supervising junior engineers and petrophysicists to support competency development within the team.

Candidate Profile

Holding an Engineering degree or a Master’s degree in Geosciences, Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, or a related scientific discipline, you have significant experience of more than 10 years in petrophysics, with recognized expertise in well log interpretation, formation evaluation, and reservoir characterization. You are comfortable working in an international environment and possess an excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

Proficiency in Python programming would be considered an asset.

Recognized for your technical expertise, analytical and synthesis skills, and collaborative mindset, you are able to address complex challenges related to exploration, reservoir development, and operational support. You have strong competencies in fluid evaluation, the integration of well data into geological models, and integrated geoscience studies, along with a solid understanding of drilling operations and asset development challenges.
