Geo Engineering - Engineer., Surface & Regional Instrumentation

Develop, coordinate, maintain, and manage existing and future databases, monitoring systems, and geotechnical risk management tools within the Mine Closure & Regional Geotechnical Risk Management System. Provide geotechnical information, technical assessments, and engineering recommendations to support mine surface and non-mining geotechnical projects from Portsite to Grasberg. This position is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving monitoring programs and risk management systems to enhance the safety, reliability, and performance of mine surface and non-mining infrastructure under current and future operating conditions.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  1. Develop, maintain, and analyze geotechnical databases and risk evaluations for mine surface, mine closure, regional, and non-mining areas.
  2. Maintain and enhance soil laboratory databases, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
  3. Develop and maintain GIS-based geotechnical risk mapping for infrastructure and operational areas.
  4. Maintain, calibrate, and improve geotechnical monitoring and early warning systems, including alarm criteria.
  5. Coordinate the installation, maintenance, and functionality of geotechnical monitoring instruments at critical locations.
  6. Analyze and interpret geotechnical monitoring data, assess ground performance and geotechnical risks, and provide engineering recommendations for operational and infrastructure areas.
  7. Conduct geotechnical assessments and support the development of mitigation measures, risk management strategies, and engineering solutions for geotechnical hazards.
  8. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering recommendations to support decision-making by stakeholders and management.
  9. Provide coaching, technical guidance, and on-the-job training to non-staff personnel to enhance competency in geotechnical monitoring systems, instrumentation, and field monitoring practices.
  10. Support geotechnical risk management, mine closure, mine surface, regional, and non-mining infrastructure projects.
  11. Ensure compliance with PTFI Safety and Environmental Programs and promote continuous safety improvement.

Minimum Education & Experience

S1 degree in Geology, Mining, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with minimum 2 years working experience on geotechnical projects, databases, and instrumentation, preferably in the mining industry.
