Firmware Development Intern

About our group:

The Storage Firmware team works on firmware development and product sustenance engineering for storage products. The team follows structured software design, development, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum practices to build, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve firmware features used in real-world products.

About the role - you will:

  • Learn how storage firmware is designed, developed, tested, debugged, and sustained in a product engineering environment.
  • Support coding, debugging, troubleshooting, and documentation activities under the guidance of experienced firmware engineers.
  • Contribute to well-defined tasks related to firmware features, defect fixes, software compile processes, and product sustenance activities.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ways of working, including sprint planning, progress updates, technical discussions, and review meetings.
  • Communicate technical observations clearly, document design or test outcomes, and collaborate with the development team to solve engineering problems.

About you:

  • Strong Python and C/C++ programming skills.
  • Knowledge of embedded multi-threaded RTOS application development, Linux user processes, and device drivers.
  • Development experience including multi-threading and inter-process communications.
  • Effective problem solver and self-starter.
  • Collaborative team member who works synergistically with others.
  • Proven expertise in problem-solving and technical innovation.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Your experience includes:

  • Academic project or coursework exposure in embedded systems, firmware, RTOS, Linux, device drivers, storage systems, or system software.
  • Awareness of SOC, DSP, ARM processors, assembly language, software compile processes, and embedded application development.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum practices, DevOps workflows, object-oriented analysis, design, and development methodologies.
  • Hands-on use of debugging, scripting, build, or source-control tools will be helpful.
