A Snapshot of Your Day (Tendering Manager – HV/EHV AIS & GIS Substation Projects)

As the Tendering Manager – HV/EHV AIS & GIS Substation Projects, you will lead the end-to-end tendering and bid management activities for High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation projects, transmission and distribution infrastructure, EPC packages, and related power system solutions. You will be responsible for identifying business opportunities, developing winning bid strategies, managing techno-commercial proposals, and ensuring competitive positioning across utility and private sector markets.

In this leadership role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, project management, finance, legal, and supply chain teams to deliver high-quality and profitable bids. You will engage with customers, utilities, consultants, and EPC partners while leveraging market intelligence, risk assessment, and pricing strategies to maximize business success. We are looking for an experienced tendering professional with deep expertise in AIS/GIS substations, power infrastructure projects, and business acquisition who can combine technical knowledge, commercial acumen, and market insight to drive sustainable growth and successful project acquisitions.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Drive business growth by identifying and evaluating tender opportunities across HV/EHV AIS & GIS substations, transmission lines, switchyards, EPC projects, and power infrastructure developments.

• Monitor utility tenders, government procurement portals, private sector RFQs, and emerging market opportunities to support strategic business expansion.

• Lead bid/no-bid evaluations by assessing project viability, competitive landscape, risk profiles, customer requirements, and organizational capabilities.

• Build and strengthen relationships with utilities, consultants, EPC partners, renewable developers, industrial customers, and key industry stakeholders.

• Lead the complete tendering lifecycle from opportunity identification through bid submission and contract award.

• Review tender documents, technical specifications, BOQs, drawings, contractual conditions, and commercial requirements to ensure comprehensive bid compliance.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, finance, legal, projects, and supply chain functions for successful bid preparation.

• Develop and submit technical proposals, commercial offers, prequalification documents, and supporting credentials in line with customer requirements.

• Conduct detailed techno-commercial assessments, evaluating project scope, engineering solutions, execution methodologies, delivery schedules, and resource requirements.

• Identify project risks, commercial exposures, contractual deviations, and mitigation strategies to protect business interests.

• Prepare management approval notes, bid strategy documents, and executive summaries to support informed decision-making.

• Develop competitive project costing models, pricing strategies, and profitability assessments while maintaining strong win probability.

• Perform market intelligence studies, competitor benchmarking, pricing analysis, and commodity trend assessments to strengthen bid competitiveness.

• Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and suppliers to obtain optimized quotations, technical inputs, and commercial support.

• Prepare project cash-flow analyses, margin evaluations, and business case assessments to support commercial decision-making.

• Analyze transmission, distribution, renewable integration, AIS/GIS technology, and utility investment trends to support strategic growth initiatives.

• Maintain bid databases, pricing benchmarks, and competitive intelligence repositories to enhance future tendering effectiveness.

• Conduct customer meetings, technical discussions, pre-bid clarifications, and tender negotiations to position Siemens Energy as a preferred partner.

• Participate in site visits for scope validation, feasibility assessment, logistics evaluation, constructability reviews, and risk identification.

• Review contractual terms and conditions, identify commercial and contractual risks, and recommend negotiation strategies and risk mitigation measures.

• Support post-tender activities including customer clarifications, techno-commercial discussions, contract finalization, and project handover to execution teams.

• Drive lessons learned and post-bid reviews to continuously improve bid quality, competitiveness, and business acquisition success rates.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).

• MBA in Marketing, Operations, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.

• 12-20 years of professional experience in tendering, estimation, proposal engineering, business acquisition, or bid management within the power sector.

• Expertise in project costing, pricing strategy development, margin optimization, and financial risk assessment.

• Experience conducting competitor analysis, market intelligence studies, benchmark assessments, and business opportunity evaluations.

• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance competitiveness, profitability, and project execution risks.

• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders across all organizational levels.
