Battery Design & Development Engineer

A purpose driven role for you

An experienced EV Battery Design & Development Engineer for mechanical design, architectural layout, and physical integration of next-generation EV battery packs. In this role, we need skills to design structural enclosures, thermal management interfaces, and cell-to-pack architectures from concept to production.

A Day in the life

~ Develop Busbar, Flex PCB, and Battery Interconnect
Specifications based on vehicle performance requirements
~ Modelling cell-to-pack integration and technology roadmap
~ Manage Battery validation, characterization
~ Safety testing, Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Quality checks
~ Direct technical engagement with suppliers and cross-functional teams

Academic Qualification & Experience

B.E/M.E Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering

Technical Skills/Knowledge

~In-depth experience in designing rigid/flexible copper and
aluminum busbars, powder-coated/tubed insulation, and
single/multi-layer Flexible Printed Circuits (FPCs) for cell
sensing.
~Proficiency in standards governing flexible circuits and
high-voltage safety: IPC-2223, IPC-6013, IEC 60664, AIS 156,
and UN 38.3.
Knowledge of cell-to-busbar connection processes (Laser
Welding, Ultrasonic Bonding, Resistance Welding, Fastening)
and FPC manufacturing (etching, stiffener placement,
coverlay selection).
Ability to perform voltage drop, ampacity, Joule heating , and
current density calculations for power buses.
Expertise in interpreting vehicle level requirements and
developing the battery component level SOR/RFQ.
Wide experience and knowledge in battery pack design and
production integration.
Proficiency in software CATIA , PLM SOFTWARE, Altium
Expertise in Design and Development of EV Battery in Sheet
metal, extrusion, plastic part, welding and manufacturing
process selection.
Expertise in Selection of Electrical components like shunt,
relays, wires, connectors, selection of material for thermal
interface material, vibration dampening etc.
Exposure in different cell form factors; 21xx, 46xx, 33xx, poch,
prismatic and blade cells.
In-depth understanding of aluminum extrusion, die-casting,
sheet metal stamping, plastic injection molding, and
structural adhesives.
Failure analysis and problem solving capabilities.
Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA for electrical joints,
busbar assemblies, and FPC sensing lines.
