Description
Oneida Professional Services (OPS) is actively seeking a highly motivated, full-time Medical Patient Appointing Clerk at Yokosuka, Japan. This is a fully on-site position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule appointments for primary care, specialty care, and subspecialty medical services using government scheduling systems.
- Receive appointment requests via telephone, secure messaging, and other approved communication methods.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments as required.
- Maintain appointment schedules utilizing CHCS, AHLTA, and/or MHS GENESIS systems.
- Verify patient eligibility through DEERS and other authorized systems.
- Register new patients into government healthcare systems when required.
- Maintain accurate patient schedules, appointment logs, and demographic information.
- Provide appointment instructions and guidance to patients.
- Coordinate consults and referrals within Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and civilian healthcare facilities.
- Pull, organize, and file patient records and documentation.
- Ensure medical records are available for scheduled appointments.
- Prepare appointment reminders and notices related to cancellations, reschedules, and no-show appointments.
- Receive and electronically route telephone consults (T-Cons) and messages to providers and clinic staff.
- Attend Access to Care meetings when serving in a lead clerk capacity.
- Utilize standard scheduling protocols, appointment detail codes, freezing slots, and TRICARE online scheduling tools.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in medical office scheduling.
- Typing proficiency of at least 50 words per minute.
- Ability to clearly speak, read, and understand English.
- Proficiency using standard office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines, and multi-line telephone systems.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, customer service practices, telephone etiquette, and medical ethics.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to perform sedentary work with occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light materials such as files and records.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA).
- Experience using Composite Health Care System (CHCS).
- Experience using MHS GENESIS.
- Experience using Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
- Previous experience supporting a Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
- Familiarity with TRICARE scheduling and referral processes.
Compensation: $22.00/Hr
