Job Summary

The Department of Family Medicine is seeking a (Full-time Faculty) and Programme Director – Adult Emergency Medicine to ensure the highest standards of emergent patient centered care, ensure seamless, quality and efficient accident and emergency medicine care. Training emergency medicine diplomates and contribute to scholarly output in primary care.

Responsibilities

· Provide clinical leadership and guidance on safe and quality patient care in the Accident and Emergency Department.

· Participate in Recruitment, Orientation, Probation Reviews and Disciplinary process of Senior House Officers.

· Responsible for Performance Management and Educational Development of SHOs.

· Provision of clinical care to patients involving first contact care, urgent and emergency care.

· Ensure all doctors are licensed and facilitate privileging of doctors.

· Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

· Participate in discussions with relevant members of the clinical care team to enable better integration of patient care activities.

· Initiate discussions with other consultants and colleagues to enable integration of clinical key performance indicators, shared knowledge, institutional quality improvement and patient outcomes.

· Participate in scholarly activities including emergency medicine research.

· Participate in the coordination of educational programs within Accident and Emergency involving residents and emergency medicine diplomates.

Requirements

· Master of Medicine in Emergency Medicine or its equivalent

· Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)

· Minimum academic position of Senior Instructor with at least two-year post training experience and registered by KMPDC as a Specialist

· Demonstrate Healthcare Leadership experience in Emergency Medicine Departments

· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal communication.

· Ability to independently prioritize work, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

· Demonstrates honesty, integrity, compassion, and respect for diversity and applies ethical principles appropriately
