Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, accurate, and trustworthy Bookkeeper (Accounts Assistant) to manage our day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting support functions. The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, perform reconciliations, support accounts payable and receivable, ensure statutory compliance, and assist in preparing timely financial reports.

Key Responsibilities

·

Record and update daily financial transactions accurately in the QuicBooks.

·

Perform bank reconciliations and manage petty cash.

·

Process invoices, payments, receipts, and expense claims promptly.

·

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including follow-up on outstanding balances.

·

Prepare and file statutory deductions and returns—PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, and VAT—within KRA deadlines.

·

Assist in preparing monthly management reports and supporting schedules.

·

Maintain organized and accurate filing systems for financial documents, both physical and electronic.

·

Support month-end and year-end closing activities.

·

Assist with audit preparations and respond to finance-related queries as required.

·

Perform other related duties assigned by the Finance Manager / Senior Accountant.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

·

KATC Parts I & II (KASNEB) or equivalent; OR

·

CPA Section 1 (Certified Public Accountants of Kenya) or equivalent.

Experience:

·

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar bookkeeping or accounts assistant role.

Technical Skills:

·

Accounting Software

·

Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)

·

Familiarity with Kenyan tax and statutory filing requirements.

Soft Skills:

·

High level of integrity and confidentiality.

·

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

·

Ability to meet strict deadlines.

·

Good communication and teamwork skills.

·

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Added Advantage:

·

Experience with eTIMS or other KRA digital tax systems.

·

Part-qualified CPA, ACCA, or CIFA.

·

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

·

Proficiency in Google Workspace
