We are seeking a skilled Ignition SCADA Administrator to oversee, optimize, and maintain our Inductive Automation Ignition platform. In this role, you will be the core technical owner of our shop-floor visualization, data logging, and MES integration. You will support high-volume production lines by ensuring real-time data accuracy, system uptime, and seamless connectivity between our manufacturing equipment and enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Ignition Platform Management: Administer, update, and optimize Ignition gateways, redundant systems, and client workstations across our discrete manufacturing facilities.
• HMI & Dashboard Design: Design and deploy intuitive Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens and real-time operations dashboards using Ignition Perspective and Vision modules.
• Connectivity & Device Integration: Configure and troubleshoot connections between Ignition, OPC UA servers (e.g., Kepware), and PLCs (e.g., Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Siemens) on the assembly and production lines.
• Scripting & Automation: Write, test, and maintain Python (Jython) scripts for custom logic, transaction managers, and automated reporting.
• Database & Historian Administration: Manage Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL databases, optimizing data logging, transaction logs, and historical data retrieval for production tracking and OEE metrics.
• Production Support & Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose and resolve SCADA communication bottlenecks, network drops, or client failures to minimize manufacturing downtime.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce cybersecurity best practices, manage user roles/permissions, and handle system backups and disaster recovery protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: 3+ years of direct experience administering Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform within a discrete manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Certifications: Ignition Core or Gold Certification from Inductive Automation is highly preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Python/Jython scripting and advanced relational database skills (SQL queries, stored procedures, indexing).
• Industrial Networking: Solid understanding of industrial protocols including EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and MQTT, alongside standard IT/OT networking principles.
• Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with tracking discrete manufacturing metrics like Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), cycle times, scrap rates, and downtime tracking.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or equivalent practical field experience.
