Pharmacy Technician

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • The Pharmacy Assistant will be required to perform various tasks within the Pharmacy including dispensing, preparation of drugs, reconstitution of cytotoxic drugs (if required) and repacking.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To screen in-coming prescription.

  • To ensure right drugs in appropriate doses are given.

  • To fill the prescription according to the directions given.

  • To ensure appropriate labelling instructions are included.

  • To countercheck the dispensed drugs against the prescription.

  • To ensure accuracy in all aspect.

  • To dispense the drug to the patient and provide the necessary instruction.

  • To ensure that the right drugs are given to the right patient.

  • To compound locations and mixtures and prepares dilutions for stock and for extemporaneous use.

  • To provide patients with certain preparations not available in the market.

  • To repack bulk drugs into suitable units for dispensing.

  • To make dispensing easy.

  • To indent for drugs, containers and labels for pharmacy use whenever required.

  • To ensure ample stock available.

  • To assist in stock-taking.

  • To ensure stocktaking is completed as required.

  • To assist Pharmacist(s) in ward inspection.

  • To comply with MSQH procedure.

  • To do cytotoxic drug reconstitution (when required).

  • To ensure preparation are safe, sterile & correct.

  • Adhere to all Acts, Laws, and Rules and Regulation governing the pharmacy services.

  • Compliance with hospital and government legislation requirement.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-charge and Pharmacist.

  • Responding to all duties given.

  • To carry out duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994: -

  • To take reasonable care at work for the safety of yourself and other persons;

  • To co-operate with your employer or any other person in the discharge of any duty;

  • To wear or use any protective equipment or clothing provided by the employer;

  • To comply with any instruction or measure on occupational safety and health.

  • Responsible and Accountable to carry out duties as in the occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994.

  • Participate actively in any other new service that is introduced by the department.

  • Ensure all policies and procedures of ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and/or Hospital Accreditation are adhered to and records maintained, if and when these programs are implemented.

  • Conformance to ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and / or Hospital accreditation requirements.

  • Prompt and effective action in taking corrective measures in cases of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and/or Hospital Accreditation non-conformance.

QUALIFICATIONS​

MINIMUM

  • Diploma in Pharmacy Pharmacy

  • Certificate in Pharmacy (KKM)

MINIMUM PREFERRED

  • At least 1 year of relevant work or internship experience in Hospital/Retail Pharmacy.

  • Preferably at least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Pharmacy Technician in Hospital/Retail Pharmacy.

  • Experience in a relevant specialist area of pharmacy practice including aseptic technique.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, process driven environment.
