Resident Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in the planning, design and construction supervision of highway works, ensuring smooth project delivery and compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure all construction works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with Work Package Contractors (WPC), consultants, SOR, project teams, landowners, relevant authorities and other external stakeholders on technical and project matters.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to the site team, ensuring effective coordination between consultants, contractors and project personnel.
  • Review and provide technical input on method statements, material submissions, shop drawings, design changes and other contractor submissions.
  • Monitor quality, HSSE and construction compliance, including reviewing QA plans, HSSE documentation, traffic management plans, safety/incident reports and issuing NCRs or stop-work instructions where necessary.
  • Monitor project progress against the approved schedule, identify potential delays and recommend appropriate mitigation measures to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Verify completed works and support the evaluation of contractor progress claims, including coordination with the QS and SOR on work done and interim claims.
  • Prepare and maintain project reports, site records, progress updates, site diaries and other relevant documentation, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the Project Manager/Project Director.
  • Provide recommendations and technical support for Variation Orders, design changes, project completion certificates and acceptance of as-built drawings, as well as undertake other duties assigned by the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of overall experience, or 12 years of strong roadworks/highway construction experience.
  • Proven experience in highway/roadworks construction, site supervision and project delivery.
  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Strong technical, project management and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to lead site teams and manage complex construction activities.
