Examples of duties
- Supervises and coordinates daily work activities of all assigned AFIS Operators.
- Performs all task normally required of an AFIS Operator.
- Prepares work schedules for all shifts. Ensure shifts are staffed, schedule days off, approve leave and keep time records.
- Conducts performance evaluations as needed.
- Oversees and conducts training of newly assigned AFIS Operators,
- Recommend new hires, pay raises and other personnel actions.
- Compiles statistical data, tracks supplies and ensures that all tasks on each shift are complete din a timely manner.
- Assists in controlling the expenditure of allocated funds.
- Ensure all Full Function Remote (FFR) policies, procedures and guidelines are followed by operators on all transactions.
- Identifies and/or resolves problems within the AFIS system or individual transactions. Keeps AFIS Administrator informed of problem situations and offers suggestions as to possible remedies.
- Review and approve corrections before they are sent to the Louisiana Bureau of Identification.
- Monitor daily arrest log, draft correspondence and write corrections when needed.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years or more working experience as an AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) Operator and at least six(6) months operating a LiveScan Station.
- Two (2) years or more of college credit or two (2) years of experience in classifying fingerprints or related experience in fingerprint science.
- Must have attended a basic course in Fingerprint Identification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience creating documents with a WordPerect application on a personal computer.
- No felony convictions, outstanding warrants or wants.
- Hold, or be able to qualify for, such certificates or licenses as may be required by Federal, State, or City Government.
- Ability to plan, initiate and execute programs; ability to interpret and apply approved policies and procedures; verbal facility; tact and diplomacy; and ability to maintain harmony among subordinates.
