Picture yourself brightening someone’s day. When you join our Hotels team, that’s exactly what you’ll do every time you come to work! You will report to and directly supporting the Director of Sales, assists leading the hotel’s sales teams, managing all sales activities, creating and executing strategic plans to achieve hotel targets, forming new and maintaining existing relationships, and developing talent within the commercial team. As an Assistant Director of Sales for China market segment, you’re not just driving revenue growth across all hotel segments – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.
Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:
Leadership
- Support leadership of the team in line with Hilton’s global Promise to our Team Members – in absence of Director of Sales, take leadership responsibility for team.
- Support development a culture focused on the core Hilton values.
- Communicate effectively within the commercial department as well as within hotel departments.
- Attendance at relevant commercial and hotel meetings.
- Develop talent within the team and continue to grow the team’s overall competencies.
- Ensure succession plans are in place for entire team.
- Address performance challenges in a supportive, timely and decisive manner.
- Support recruitment and selection of the Sales and Groups team.
Hotel Strategy and Management
- Support in the design of the hotel business strategy.
- Collaborate with and support commercial leadership team to achieve relevant key indicators, including but not limited to managing the hotel's continued profitability, ensuring the hotel's revenue and profit, and guest satisfaction to meet or exceed the standard requirements.
- Actively promote the generation of rooms, event space and restaurant revenue, and support the hotel by providing advice, support, and training in upselling and cross selling skills to Front Desk and F&B team members.
- Fully support revenue driving initiatives in car park, laundry, telephone, in-room new/creative technology (movies, internet etc.), business services. Fully contribute to and drive the design of hotel business strategy.
Sales
- Acquire, develop and grow key accounts to increase Hilton’s market share across all segments and target markets.
- Prepare and send proposals and ensure accurate follow ups leading to conversion and contract preparation, as required.
- Attend designated training programs, as required.
- Develop the right Account Plans to that sales resources are mobilised to drive market share from Key Accounts with the highest potential.
- Develop powerful personal relationships with decision makers and influencers within the top producing (or top potential) Hilton Singapore Orchard accounts.
- Develop relationship and coordinate activity plans with all relevant global/regional sales offices.
- Ensure that measurement systems are in place to track the production of all targeted accounts.
- Ensure attendance at all major travel shows and client events.
- On an annual basis, support identification of the key retention and acquisition accounts.
- Actively seek out new sources of business and additional opportunities for the hotel.
China Market Scope
- Own and grow HSO's China-sourced MICE and corporate accounts, driving market share from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
- Represent Hilton Singapore Orchard at China-market trade shows, roadshows, and client events (e.g. Hilton's Greater China Showcase), building and maintaining relationships with China-based agents, wholesalers, and DMCs.
- Coordinate activity plans with Hilton's regional China sales office and align account coverage to avoid duplication.
- Maintain a working knowledge of China-market booking behaviour, seasonality, and channel mix (OTA, agent, direct) to inform account strategy.
- Accountable for China-segment room revenue and MICE conversion performance against the annual target set with the Director of Sales and Commercial Director.
Conference & Events, Outlets
- Support commercial leadership team when establishing strategies and procedure for:
- Inquiry handling
- Space control
- Response rates
- Occupancy statistics for all conference/banquet rooms
- Inquiry conversion statistics and improvement when needed
- Implement strategies to increase C&E and outlet revenues
Revenue Management – Rooms
- Support analysis of competitors’ activities and pricing strategy, and fair market share.
- Support analysis of business by market segment, channel and GOB, as well as performance of existing customers.
- Schedule detailed action plans to support the Revenue Proposal for all sections of the business.
- Identification of the capabilities of the hotel to serve the various types of business and programming of hotel sales
- efforts to solicit those sources the hotel is best qualified to serve, profitably.
Budget and Fiscal
- Assist Director of Sales in producing the annual Revenue Plan, S&M budgets and monthly/weekly forecasts, and monthly review of expenses.
- Maintenance of Systems and Procedures
- Maximise the use of systems and maintain accuracy of all reservations and other data.
- Ensure that all the rates are loaded by accurate completion of the database.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of uses/applications of all sales and revenue management systems.
- Undertake all reviews of standards & procedures as necessary.

In addition, this role requires the following minimum qualifications:
- Passionate about customer service excellence and achieving commercial results.
- Business-level proficiency relevant to the China market would be advantageous to effectively manage client and agency relationships within the China market.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and inspire high-performing teams in a collaborative environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, revenue planning, forecasting, market analysis, and pricing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse performance data and market trends, and develop effective sales strategies to drive revenue growth.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a similar sales leadership role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Previous experience in event sales and/or event management with a track record of implementing innovative sales initiatives.
- Strong sales, negotiation, lead management, and closing skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
- Customer-focused with a proven ability to identify opportunities and deliver solutions that exceed customer expectations.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work productively under pressure and amidst frequent interruptions.
- Ability to conduct engaging and effective hotel site inspections and presentations.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning and personal development.
- Ability to travel as required.
