Health & Safety Officer

Winners, the leading supermarket chain in Mauritius is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join its existing team.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure that all OSH policies, procedures, rules and regulations are communicated and adhered to
• Assess the need for preventive measures to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other collaborators within the company
• Inspect and evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and legal requirements
• Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities
• Carry out investigations on incidents, complaints and recurrent health cases to identify and provide solutions to workplace situations
• Conduct appropriate safety and health induction and training session and ensure training records are maintained
• Implement and monitor safety & health policies and procedures
• Organize regular safety & health committees as per legal provisions
• Organize appropriate occupational safety & health programs
• Recommend necessary actions or procedural changes to correct areas not in compliance with safety & health regulations

Job Requirements
• BSc in Safety and Health Management or any other equivalent qualifications
• Sound knowledge of OSHA 2005
• Sound knowledge of Safety and Health Practices/Policies & Procedures
• Conversant with MS Office Suite
• Effective communication, organizational and time management skills
• Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Detail and results-oriented
• Holder of a valid driving licence
• At least 2 years of proven experience in a similar role
• Experience in the retail sector will constitute an advantage
• Ability to work under pressure
