Job Overview

The Material Planning (Sr) Specialist operates as a subject matter expert in material requirements planning, purchase order execution, and inventory optimization within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material flow to production lines through proactive supplier delivery tracking, strategic inventory control, and cross-functional coordination with Procurement, QA/QC, Warehouse, and Production teams. The individual executes tasks independently, upholds rigorous compliance standards, and drives continuous process improvements across material management workflows.

Main Responsibilities

  • Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Adhere strictly to all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, maintaining full material traceability, accurate ERP records, and audit readiness.
  • MRP Execution & PO Management: Run Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to generate, issue, and manage the full lifecycle of Purchase Orders (POs), while continuously reviewing and fine-tuning planning parameters (safety stock, lead times).
  • Inbound Tracking & Delivery Assurance: Monitor transit status across all open orders, coordinate dock-to-stock timelines with warehouse personnel, proactively mitigate shipment delays, and manage Return to Vendor (RTV) workflows for non-conforming goods.
  • Inventory Control & Strategic Material Monitoring: Manage optimal inventory levels for raw materials and packaging, proactively tracking long-lead, single-source, and critical items to prevent stockouts while leading Slow-Moving and Obsolete (SLOB) reviews and expiry risk mitigation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with QA/QC to expedite quarantined material releases, align with Production on consumption schedules, and interface with Procurement to resolve persistent supplier performance bottlenecks.
  • Reporting, Analytics & Continuous Improvement: Consolidate and evaluate material control reports (e.g., inventory turns, supplier on-time delivery, stockout risks), performing root-cause analysis to implement sustainable process and service enhancements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in material planning, supply planning, purchasing, or supply chain operations, preferably within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of MRP, inventory optimization, PO management, supplier delivery management, and material shortage prevention.
  • Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP/MRP systems and strong data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root-cause analysis, resolve supply risks, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, SOP/WI compliance, material traceability, and audit requirements.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills to align and coordinate effectively across departments.
  • Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin (written and verbal), with a minimum TOEIC score of 700.
