Maintenance Technician I

This is a Monday through Friday, In Person On Site position. It could also require on call responsibilities.

The Maintenance Technician I works within our Maintenance Department to ensure Imagine the Possibilities facilities, homes, grounds, vehicles, and equipment are maintained in a safe, functional, and well-maintained condition. This position performs a variety of general maintenance, preventative maintenance, servicing, and repair duties while ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and codes.

This role is essential to maintaining safe and comfortable environments for the individuals we support and our employees.

  • Perform General Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs throughout facilities and homes, including plumbing, electrical, appliances, furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and other building-related needs. May also perform basic painting and carpentry work.
  • Maintain Facilities, Grounds, and Vehicles: Maintain buildings, grounds, equipment, and agency-owned vehicles in proper working condition. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, small engine maintenance and repair, ground care, snow removal, and salting as needed.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance and Safety Inspections: Carry out preventative maintenance programs and complete required monthly and annual inspections. Monitor systems and equipment, including alarm systems, sprinkler systems, Wander Guards, HVAC equipment, GFCI outlets, fire extinguishers, furnace filters, ladders, and other safety-related equipment.
  • Manage Maintenance Requests and Documentation: Review daily maintenance schedules and work orders, prioritize assignments, and complete work within designated timeframes. Maintain accurate records, logs, inspection documentation, and other required information related to maintenance activities while communicating assignments, progress, concerns, and material needs to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a Safe and Compliant Work Environment: Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies appropriately while following established safety procedures, OSHA standards, applicable regulations, and personal protective equipment requirements. Report mechanical, electrical, plumbing, equipment, safety, or hazardous conditions promptly to the supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform locksmithing duties, including repairing and replacing locks and duplicating keys.
  • Replace lost keys and provide vehicle entry assistance as requested.
  • Participate in on-call duties as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Use materials, equipment, and work time efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • May require lifting at times, up to 50 pounds. Lifting more than 50 pounds requires the use of a two- person lift, mechanical lift, or assistive equipment.
  • May require prolonged sitting and working at a computer for up to eight hours.
  • May require frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • May require prolonged standing for up to eight hours.
  • Must wear hearing and eye protection in required areas.
  • Must have ability to see objects/persons at a distance.
  • Must have ability to see close work such as typed or handwritten material.
  • Must have ability to hear conversations in a quiet and a noisy environment.
  • Must have ability to determine where a sound is coming from.
  • Must have ability to hear differences among bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc.
  • Must have ability to communicate through speech.
  • Must have ability to drive and transport for service provision as needed.
  • Must remain awake during working hours, if applicable.
