A Brief Overview
Performs slide review of GYN and Non-GYN specimens. Assists on Rapid On-site Evaluations (R.O.S.E.). Ability to perform all Cytology Processor functions. Perform Imager maintenance and maintain QA documents. Examines and evaluates microscopic preparations of cytology specimens.
What You Will Do
- Uses microscope to examine cellular samples and identify abnormalities according to departmental protocols.
- Records findings in laboratory information system.
- Communicates pertinent section information/issues to supervisor, manager or other appropriate individual.
- Assists in documentation and maintaining effective department QA/QC programs and monitors.
- Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in biological or chemical science or requirement specific in CLIA '88 to perform high complexity testing and ASCP certification or equiv. (Required)
Work Experience
- Previous experience as a cytotechnologist (Preferred) or
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency with pattern recognition and manual dexterity. (Required proficiency)

- ASCP Certification as a cytotechnologist (CT) (Required)
