This position offers hands-on work, paid training, and opportunities for career growth within DOTD.

The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required task.

Examples of duties

Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR

Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Job Duties:

• Computes and checks earthwork quantities, computation sheets, cross sections, related field books, benchmark forms.
• Generates partial and final estimates, final plans (As-Builts), and final change orders.
• Assists field Engineers when they are shorthanded in the field.
• Keeps accurate inventory (quantity and quality) of materials used by contractors.
• Specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities: Work consists of reading and sending e-mail using Outlook. Must have working knowledge of basic computer software, such as Excel, Word, and Site Manager

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional

Work Schedule: This position will work 40 hours per week. Schedule can be discussed.

Compensation: Salary depends on qualifications. The starting hourly rate and premium pay amounts for each level are as follows:

• Engineering Technician 1 - The starting salary is $14.00/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
• Engineering Technician 2 - Starting salary is $16.03/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
• Engineering Technician 3 - Starting salary is $18.35/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
• Engineering Technician 4 - Starting salary is $21.00/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
