Special Education Teacher
General Statement of Duties
The Special Education Teacher provides specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher works collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administrators to ensure students receive appropriate educational supports and services while fostering academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
The Special Education Teacher reports directly to the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.
Qualifications
- Valid New York State certification in Students with Disabilities (appropriate grade level required).
- Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with IEP development, progress monitoring, and collaboration preferred.
