Clinical Research Coordinator I

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Psych - Behavioral Neurobiology, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I.

This position will support clinical research at the intersection of infectious disease and addiction medicine, primarily involving individuals with substance use disorders and those living with or at risk for infectious diseases. Studies range from observational and implementation research to clinical trials and involve recruitment, informed consent, data and specimen collection, participant follow-up, and coordination of study visits. The CRC I will work closely with investigators, clinicians, research staff, and community partners to coordinate study activities, maintain protocol and regulatory compliance, and support communication across multidisciplinary study teams.

General Responsibilities

To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Recruits, screens, consents, and enrolls participants for research studies focused on infectious diseases and substance use.
Coordinates study visits, maintains participant engagement and retention, and serves as a primary point of contact for study participants.
Collects, enters, and manages study data.
Maintains study records and regulatory documentation.
Ensures protocol compliance.
Supports data quality assurance and reporting requirements for grant-funded research activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $71,320

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Preferences

Bachelor's degree in public health, biology, health sciences, psychology, social work, or a similar discipline preferred.
The ability to learn and apply clinical research principles and regulatory requirements.
Experience in a healthcare, research, public health, social services, or related setting.
Experience interacting with study participants, patients, or community members and performing data collection or administrative tasks is preferred.
MVR Needed.
