Summary of Role
The Vice President of Agency Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for scaling and optimizing the Agency Operations function while driving operational excellence, advertiser retention, and business growth. This role will oversee the processes, people, and performance that support the successful execution of digital advertising campaigns. The VP will also partner closely with leadership across the organization on financial management, operational strategy, product development, partner growth, and cross-functional initiatives.
The ideal candidate is an experienced operational leader who combines strong business acumen with exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. They should be comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level, navigating complex challenges, and translating complicated concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for both internal teams and external partners. Curiosity is critical to success in this role; the ideal candidate is eager to learn, challenge existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and continuously evolve how the organization operates.
Responsibilities
- Organizational Design & Leadership: Cultivate a forward-looking, high-performing operations organization by mentoring future leaders, defining distinct career trajectories, and fostering a culture rooted in continuous improvement and accountability.
- Advertiser Retention: Take accountability for the operational factors that influence advertiser retention, analyzing churn trends, campaign hurdles, and points of partner friction to deploy initiatives that boost client lifetime value and satisfaction.
- Operating Leverage & Scalability: Maximize operating leverage by scaling the volume of business managed per team member without compromising campaign quality, SLAs, or overall client success.
- Strategic Resource Planning: Lead resource forecasting and capacity planning for the department, utilizing revenue projections, productivity trends, and technological efficiencies to strategically manage headcount growth as the company scales.
- Performance Governance: Design and govern a comprehensive performance management system, encompassing departmental KPIs, quality benchmarks, capacity tracking, and operational dashboards to ensure financial and SLA goals are met consistently.
- AI & Technological Transformation: Spearhead the integration of AI, automation, and advanced workflows by pinpointing efficiency bottlenecks and collaborating with Product to roll out tech solutions that minimize manual effort and elevate output quality.
- Commercial Strategy: Act as a strategic commercial partner alongside Sales and Client Success, leveraging operational insights to uncover expansion opportunities, deepen client relationships, and drive incremental revenue.
- Innovation: Collaborate closely with product teams to proactively translate market trends, client needs, and operational roadblocks into actionable requirements that make a meaningful impact for internal teams and external customers.
- Financial Management: Support financial and P&L management by monitoring operational costs, identifying efficiencies, and contributing to department-level financial planning.
- Change Management: Direct comprehensive change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during the rollout of new operating models, workflows, and technologies by driving team-wide adoption and alignment.
- Execution & Communication: Establish accountability around deadlines, SLAs, and quality standards to ensure consistent and reliable delivery. Simplify complex concepts and translate campaign performance, operational challenges, and strategic recommendations into clear, actionable communication for partners, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in ad operations, digital media, ad trafficking, campaign management, or account management within a digital agency, media company, technology platform, or client organization.
- 6+ years of experience managing teams and driving results against strategic business objectives.
- Proven track record of transforming and scaling an operations team via process optimization, tech adoption, and change management, resulting in tangible gains in efficiency, cost-reduction, and client outcomes.
- 4+ years of experience working directly with clients, partners, or internal stakeholders on data, operations, performance, and strategic business conversations.
- Strong understanding of digital advertising platforms and ad-serving technologies, including experience with platforms such as The Trade Desk, Meta, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Amazon, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing, aggregating, and communicating performance data for digital media campaigns.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
- Strong understanding of digital production, creative specifications, ad tags, and campaign implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, detail-oriented workflows while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Experience in ecommerce, performance marketing, or other highly measurable digital environments is a plus.
Location Information
This role is required to be located near our Denver, CO office, with hybrid work from home flexibility.
Team members must live and work in the United States* (*territories excluded), and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
Compensation
Total annual compensation is targeted at $131,000–$165,000, including a performance-based bonus tied to department KPIs, business growth, and operational performance. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $110,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
This role is eligible to participate in a company equity program.
