The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is searching to fill two (2) Administrative Specialist II positions in our Regulatory Services - Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) Department. The candidates must have a high-school diploma, administrative experience and the ability to establish effective working relationships.

General Responsibility Provide administrative support to the Regulatory Services department by processing required data from Concealed Weapon Permit applications.

Specific Duties

  • Function as a team member in the processing of Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) applications. Receive and compile all fingerprint responses from SLED and the FBI. Inspect surveys and evaluate records. Answer telephone calls, interpret state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding SLED Regulatory functions.
  • Organize and assist in the maintenance of files on all CWP applications. Conduct and maintain inventories of active and inactive records for a state agency.
  • Enter CWP application information into the CWP databases and assist in the processing of those applications.
  • Enter, process, and retrieve CWP applicants' images from DMV files and print the CWP for issuance in a timely manner as required by law.
  • Assist with mail for the Dissemination unit and serve as back up for the SLED receptionist.

Examples of duties

  • High school diploma and clerical experience in records management, information systems, or office administration required.
  • Associates degree may be substituted for required work experience.
  • A working knowledge of computers and programs such as Microsoft Office, Mapper, or LEMS.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the agency and the Regulatory Services unit.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and discretions as well as establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision while being able to utilize knowledge and skills to assist customers with issues related to the regulatory CWP functions and troubleshoot problematic issues.
  • Some state-wide and out-of-state travel may be required.
