Dialysis Transporter

Position Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CENA) – Dialysis Transporter is responsible for safely transporting residents to and from dialysis appointments while providing basic nursing care, comfort, and support. This role ensures residents arrive on time, safely, and with dignity, while maintaining communication with dialysis centers and facility staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to and from dialysis appointments according to scheduled times
• Assist residents with transfers, ambulation, and wheelchair mobility
• Monitor residents before and after dialysis for signs of distress and report concerns to nursing staff
• Provide basic nursing care within the scope of CENA certification
• Ensure residents are properly prepared for dialysis (proper attire, documentation, personal items)
• Maintain accurate transportation and care documentation
• Communicate effectively with dialysis centers, nursing staff, and transportation services
• Follow all safety, infection control, and HIPAA guidelines
• Ensure residents’ comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being during transport
• Perform additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership

Qualifications

• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CENA) license (required)
• Experience required, preferably in dialysis, long-term care, or healthcare transportation
• Knowledge of safe transfer techniques and resident mobility assistance
• Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and transferring residents
• Ability to work in varied environmental conditions during transport

Work Environment

• Long-term care or healthcare facility
• Interaction with residents, dialysis centers, and medical staff
• Fast-paced, resident-focused environment
