Position: After-School Program Site Cook (1 Cook at Each Elementary School)
Program: Boone County After-School
Term:
Hours: 2 Days per week (Monday and Wednesday)
6 weeks in the Fall and 6 weeks in the Spring (Starting September 28th)

Job Purpose
The After-School Cook is responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals and/or snacks for students participating in the after-school program. The employee will follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and child nutrition requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals and/or snacks for students participating in the after-school program.
- Follow established menus, recipes, portion sizes, and food preparation procedures.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and follow all food safety and sanitation requirements.
- Set up the food service area prior to meal service.
- Serve students in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, serving areas, equipment, utensils, and other kitchen surfaces following meal service.
- Properly store food and supplies at the conclusion of each work period.
- Complete required meal counts, production records, or other documentation as directed.
- Follow Boone County Schools policies and applicable state and federal child nutrition regulations.
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and orderly kitchen environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal, Child Nutrition Director, or designee.
Qualifications
- Must meet applicable requirements for employment as a school service employee.
- Ability to safely prepare and serve food.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and administrators.
- Must possess or obtain any required food handler or food safety certification.
Work Schedule
This position will work two (2) days per week, Monday and Wednesday, for two (2) hours per day, for a total of four (4) hours per week, during the operation of the after-school program.
The work schedule may be adjusted when necessary due to school closures, holidays, program cancellations, or other operational needs.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, lift, carry, and safely operate standard food-service equipment. The employee may be required to lift food, supplies, or equipment consistent with the physical requirements of a school food-service position.
