Kubernetes Administrator

Our client is seeking a mid-to-senior level Kubernetes Administrator to support and manage their on-premises Kubernetes environment. This is not a Kubernetes Developer or Application Support role. The focus is on Kubernetes platform administration, environment setup, cluster management, infrastructure support, and ongoing maintenance.

The client uses on-prem Rancher K3s and Kubernetes and is looking for someone who can quickly contribute without requiring training on Kubernetes fundamentals. They are willing to train on their specific environment and processes, but candidates must already possess strong Kubernetes administration experience.

This is a Kubernetes Administrator role focused on managing the platform and infrastructure, not an application deployment or software development role. Experience administering Kubernetes clusters in production environments is required.

This is an opportunity for a Kubernetes Administrator to own and manage a production Rancher/K3s environment supporting critical enterprise systems. The role is focused on platform administration, cluster operations, Linux infrastructure, and Kubernetes management rather than application development, making it ideal for someone who wants to deepen their expertise in enterprise Kubernetes operations.

Top Skills Details

• 5+ years Linux Administration experience
• 3+ years Kubernetes Administration experience
• Experience supporting on-prem Kubernetes environments
• Rancher/K3s experience preferred
• Comfortable managing infrastructure, networking, security, storage, and cluster operations
• Able to be productive immediately with minimal ramp-up time

• Candidates whose Kubernetes experience is limited to deploying applications into existing clusters
• Pure Software Developers
• Application Support Engineers
• DevOps candidates with minimal cluster administration experience

The ideal candidate should understand pod deployment, but the primary responsibility is administration and management of the Kubernetes platform itself.

Hybrid - if local, one day on site. The client is open to contract-only employees outside of the Harrisburg area, but such candidates would not be given the chance to come on as a permanent employee at the end of their contract.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
