Funeral Home Facilities Operations Specialist

As a Funeral Home Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for the upkeep, safety, and functionality of the funeral home's physical premises. This includes performing routine maintenance, coordinating repairs, ensuring proper cleanliness, overseeing outdoor maintenance tasks like snow removal and lawn care, and supporting general facility management duties. You will also collaborate with other team members to support the operational needs of the funeral home.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the funeral home, including public areas, offices, and service rooms.
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of rooms for memorial services, viewings, and other events.
  • Ensure that all equipment and furnishings are in good working order, replacing or repairing as necessary.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs or services.
  • Monitor facility safety, including fire and emergency systems, and perform regular checks.
  • Assist with setting up equipment for funeral services, including audiovisual and display systems.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and other essential facility items.
  • Handle facility-related customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform snow removal duties during winter months, including salting walkways, driveways, and parking areas.
  • Maintain the funeral home's lawn and outdoor areas, including mowing, trimming, and landscaping.
  • Ensure that outdoor spaces are clean, inviting, and well-kept year-round.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or a similar role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and respect.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor tasks such as snow removal, lawn care, and landscaping.
