QC Welding Inspector

General Description:

The QC Inspector is responsible for the inspections of Boiler Maintenance and Repair including but not limited to welding inspection and general maintenance and repairs both shop and field applications. Inspects boilers that are currently in use, determines necessary repairs, and reviews design and materials required for the repairs, review proposed repair plans and documents to determine compliance with regulations and codes.

  • Schedule project inspections in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Monitor the quality of material used.
  • Inspect any defects or discrepancies that might compromise the operations.
  • Generating reports to assess the product cost and budget goals.
  • Document all activities and inspections.
  • Recommend corrective actions to engineering for evaluation when necessary.
  • Ensure that the contractor and contractor employees are qualified and in compliance with contract and procedure requirements and knowledgeable of the client specifications.
  • Ensure the equipment is function tested and in optimum operating condition for the project.
  • Be a Safety Leader! Ensure the resources and commitment to HSE is of top priority for all employees within the company.
  • Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
    • Maintain compliance with the required HSE Training.
    • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
    • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
    • Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives. The FS1 Facility Operator has STOP work authority.
    • Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
    • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
    • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
    • Promote and participate in Safety Programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, remote locations, and diverse personalities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to complete and submit Daily Inspection Reports using Microsoft Office and online software.
  • Knowledge of how to use testing equipment.
  • Skilled in organization and detail oriented.
  • Skilled in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication that includes good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback.
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and interpret the English language.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Current CWI Certificate
  • 5 years' experience in welding inspections
  • TWIC Card
  • Safety Essential/Basic Plus Card

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 10 or 30 training is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying welding codes, specifications and quality standards.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors. This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
  • HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
  • LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
  • RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
